September 27, (THEWILL) – The Chairman of Kano Pillars Football Club, Alhaji Babbangida Umar, has described the death of former Coach of the club, Justin Tenger, as a huge loss to the football fraternity in particular, and the sports industry in general.
This is contained in a statement issued on Wednesday in Kano by
Mubarak Madungurum on behalf of the Media Officer of the club,Rilwanu Idris Malikawa.
It said Tenger died on Tuesday at the age of 75 after a prolonged illness at the Federal Medical Centre, Keffi, in Nasarawa State, leaving behind a wife, children and many relatives,and that the Chairman had since condoled with his family.
The statement also said Tenger’s demise was also a big loss to the nation in view of his unmatchable wealth of experience and statesmanship.
It said the Benue-born Technician had contributed immensely to the development of football, “particularly in grooming rookies or amateurs to become promising stars in their chosen profession.”
The statement said the Chairman prayed to God to grant him eternal rest and give his family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
“The Chairman extends similar condolences to the government and people of Benue State likewise to the Tor Tiv, the paramount ruler of Tivland, over the huge loss,” it said.
The Former Kano Pillars Coach had also managed top clubs such as Akwa United, Niger Tornadoes, Kwara United, BCC Lions, Elkanemi warrior of Maiduguri and Wikki Tourists of Bauchi,the statement added.
