September 23, (THEWILL) – Aspirants in the forthcoming local government elections in Kano State under the platform of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) have alleged the diversion of fees paid for Expression of Interest forms for the polls.
The aspirants, who spoke to newsmen in Kano on Monday, alleged that they paid N50,000 each for the forms but the money was not paid into the NNPP’s account.
“We understand that the money was paid into a personal account and not our party’s account,” the aspirants who pleaded anonymity said.
According to the hopefuls, they paid the money to the party’s officials in cash but could not understand why the funds were not remitted to the NNPP account, adding that aspirants across the 44 local government areas of the state had paid the fees.
The aspirants, therefore, appealed to the leadership of the party to do “the needful” by explaining the whereabouts of the money so as to lay the matter to rest.
All efforts, including phone calls, to reach the Chairman of the party in the state, Alhaji Hashimu Dungurawa, for his comments on the matter proved abortive.
