Kano Govt Plans To Transform Motor Parks To Standard – Official

January 20, (THEWILL) – Kano State Government says it will modernise all its motor parks across the state to bring them to standard.

This is contained in a statement issued by the Information Officer of the state Ministry of Transportation, Ibrahim Adamu Kofar Nassarawa, on Saturday.

The statement said the Special Advisor to the State Governor on Transportation, Alhaji Danladi Idris Karfi, disclosed this during a familiarisation visit to the Managing Director of the Kano Road Transport Agency (KAROTA), Engineer Faisal Mahmoud Kabir.

It said Karfi also disclosed that the State Government would provide Motels and other facilities at the motor parks to provide comfort to travellers.

He said the initiative would also attract investors to boost the economic growth of the state which serves as the commercial nerve centre of African countries.

He lamented the environmental condition of some motor parks in the state, describing them as an eyesore.

The Special Adviser also warned that the government would not tolerate any acts of land encroachment at motor parks.

He said that the State Government under the leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf had been giving priority attention to the transportation sector in its efforts to improve revenue generation in the state.

He further revealed that the government had concluded arrangements for the procurement of boats for use at some strategic rivers, which he said would be the first of its kind in the state.

In his remarks, the Managing Director commended Governor Yusuf for establishing the Office of the Special Adviser on Transportation and Senior Special Assistant to the Governor and other aides in the transportation sector.

He pledged the support and cooperation of KAROTA to the state government’s efforts to move the state forward.

He also expressed the agency’s commitment to addressing the various challenges in the sector including fighting corruption.

The Managing Director said the Agency is working hand-in-hand with other stakeholders to effectively discharge its duties.

He disclosed that the government had approved the provision of new uniforms for personnel and equipment to enhance service delivery in the agency.

The Special Adviser had also led a delegation on a visit to motor parks such as Na’ibawa Motor Park, Malam Kato Motor Park, Yan Kaba, Kofar Ruwa, Milltara and Rijiyar Lemo Motor Parks.

The Special Adviser explained that the visit was part of the efforts of Governor Abba Yusuf’s administration to identify challenges bedevilling the motor parks with a view to addressing them
