February 22, (THEWILL) – The Kano State Government has inaugurated a high-powered Committee for the forthcoming 2024 Ramadan Feeding Programme (RFP) in the state.

This was contained in a statement issued to newsmen by Ibrahim Garba Shuaibu, spokesperson of the Kano State Deputy Governor.

Shuaibu said the Deputy Governor, Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo, while inaugurating the committee, stated that the programme was aimed at “assisting all residents of the state, transcending political affiliations.”

He said Gwarzo urged the committee to strategise the distribution of food across designated areas in the state during the Ramadan fast and gave the body five days to complete its assignment.

The committee’s terms of reference include “identifying key distribution spots within the 8 metropolitan Local Government Areas and 36 Local Government Areas of the state, recommending breakfast menus for the targeted Muslim ummah during Ramadan, and identifying individuals or groups deserving of government goodwill as a Ramadan gesture.”

The Deputy Governor thanked the people of the state for their continued support and reiterated the continued commitment of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration to their well-being.

The State Commissioner of Religious Affairs, Ahmad Tijjani Auwal, while responding on behalf of the committee, thanked the State Government for assigning them “this crucial task of Ramadan feeding,” assuring that the body would work diligently to discharge its mandate.

Auwal called on philanthropists in the state to support the programme to ensure its success by effecting its widespread benefits during the Holy period.

Other members of the committee include Aisha Lawan Saji, Commissioner for Women Affairs; Amina Abdullahi, Commissioner for Special Duties; Umar Haruna Doguwa, Commissioner for Education, and Baba Halilu Dantiye, Commissioner for Information.
