March 28, (THEWILL) – The Minority Caucus in the House of Representatives has called for an urgent comprehensive investigation into the remote and immediate circumstances leading to invasion and takeover of the Kaduna International Airport by bandits on Saturday.

The Caucus also expressed shock over what it described as the apparent compromising of security at the airport that paved the way for the eventual invasion.

In a statement signed by the Minority Leader of the House, Ndudi Elumelu, the caucus urged the government to immediately beef up security in all the nation’s airports and other public convergence facilities so as to forestall a re-occurrence of such a terrifying attack.

“Airports, especially international airports across the world, are usually highly secured areas. Therefore, the circumstances that allowed for the invasion of the Kaduna International Airport speak volume about the security in the area”, the Caucus added.

THEWILL reports that bandits on Saturday afternoon, invaded the Kaduna airport through the perimeter fence from a nearby forest and started shooting to scare the workers.

One of the NAMA Security guards was patrolling around the runway at that time and was shot by the bandits.

The sound of gunshot attracted the attention of armed security operatives, who arrived at the scene, and were able to repel the bandits from gaining access into the main airport complex.

The attack also delayed a scheduled Lagos-bound aircraft from taking off from the Kaduna airport
