September 21, (THEWILL) – Juventus defender, Alex Sandro, is set for a spell on the sidelines after sustaining a hamstring injury in training, the Serie A club announced on Thursday.
The Brazil international underwent medical assessments in Turin, which revealed a moderate tear in his left hamstring. Sandro has already begun rehabilitation work and will have further tests in two weeks to more accurately determine his recovery timeline.
Hamstring injuries of this severity typically require around a month of recovery time before a player can return to action. This means Sandro is likely to miss at least the next few weeks for Juventus.
The left-back has made two appearances so far this campaign, though did not feature in last weekend’s 3-1 victory over Lazio. Massimiliano Allegri’s side currently sit second in the Serie A table, two points adrift of leaders Inter Milan.
Juventus face trips to Sassuolo on Saturday, and Lecce next Tuesday, before Sandro can expect to be back available for selection.
