Juve Climb Fifth After 2-0 Defeat Of Inter In Derby D’Italia

November 07, (THEWILL) – Late Sunday in Turin, Juventus defeated Derby d’Italia rivals, Inter Milan, 2-0 to overtake the Nerazzurri in the Serie A standings with Nicolo Fagioli scoring to mark his first Serie A start.

On the Serie A table, Juventus and Inter were 13 and 11 points behind leaders Napoli respectively ahead of their meeting. It was the Nerazzurri that started the game with more urgency even as they missed several good opportunities to take the lead before halftime.

When play resumed, Adrien Rabiot’s side footed goal against the flow of play helped Massimiliano Allegri’s hosts break the deadlock and 21-year-old midfielder Fagioli secured the victory with a late deflected shot.

The outcome saw Simone Inzaghi’s team, which finished second last season, drop to seventh place in the standings while propelling Juventus over Inter into the top five of Serie A.

Inter are next in action on Wednesday for their midweek Serie A fixture against Bologna at home, while Juve play Hellas Verona the following day.
