Jigawa Gov Approves Over 500 Ramadan Feeding Centres

March 11, (THEWILL) – Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State has earmarked over 500 Ifthar feeding (Breaking of Fast) centres across the state for the next 30 days starting from Monday.

The gesture came on the heels of the distribution of 150,000 bags of rice, 150,000 bags of maize and 100,000 cartons of noodles across the 27 Local Government Areas of the state.

This was contained in a statement signed by Hajiya Zainab Rabo Ringim, the Special Assistant on Media Affairs to the Governor, and made available to newsmen in Kano on Monday.

Ringim quoted her principal to have said that the free feeding centres would allow citizens to break their fast on a daily basis without stress.

“While the Governor lamented the current economic hardships in the country, he however, appealed to the citizens to remain patient and prayerful as the conditions would soon be over,” he said.

Namadi maintained that the government at all levels are aware of the economic condition of its people, assuring that the situation is not permanent.

“Malam Umar Namadi’s mission is to support citizens and reduce their hardships at this trying period, particularly now that the 2024 Ramadan fasting has commenced,” the Governor’s aide said.

The Governor further assured that the government would continue to provide various means of supporting the poor and vulnerable to improve their lives.

In his remarks at the event, the State Commissioner for Special Duties, Alhaji Auwalu Sankara, commended Governor Namadi for his passion for supporting the poor and vulnerable citizens through various interventions across the state.

Sankara assured that his ministry would supervise the distribution to ensure that the food items got to the poor and vulnerable members of society.
