July 30, (THEWILL) – American rapper, Shawn Carter, professionally known as Jay-Z, is planning to buy Tottenham Hotspur, a popular football club in England, after its owner, Joe Lewis, was accused of insider trading.
Lewis was charged with conducting an insider trading scheme by prosecutors in America and if found guilty, would be forced to give up his ownership of the club, according to Premier League rules.
According to The Mirror, Jay-Z is waiting for the outcome of Lewis’ court case so that he can buy the football.
The American rapper had previously opened up on his interest to invest in a Premier League club.
Jay Z revealed in 2010, that he would buy a football club if the opportunity comes though he does not know much about the business of soccer.
“I don’t know a lot about the business of soccer, but in the future if the right opportunity presented itself, then who knows?
Though Arsenal was said to be the club Jay Z was interested in then after he stated that Thierry Henry inspired him to support the club, but a partnership with the club never materialized.
