August 18, (THEWILL) — Jack Wilshere has found himself at the centre of attention after his half-time team talk went viral following Luton Town’s remarkable 4-3 comeback victory over Reading.
The Hatters looked to be heading towards a disappointing start to the League One campaign after falling 3-1 behind at the break at the Madejski Stadium.
Instead, Wilshere’s players returned from the dressing room with renewed belief, scored three times in the second half and completed an extraordinary turnaround in stoppage time.
Luton had taken an early lead through young midfielder Jake Richards, but former Hatters striker Jack Marriott responded with a first-half hat-trick to put Reading firmly in control.

Wilshere also challenged his players to improve their work in duels and second balls, insisting that their training-ground passing had to translate into the intensity required during an actual match.
Despite his frustration, however, he made sure to remind the squad that the game was still there to be won.
His message was simple: score twice quickly and the entire contest could change.
That prediction proved almost perfect.
Luton came flying out after the restart, with new permanent signing Kasey Palmer scoring twice within seven minutes to bring the visitors level at 3-3.
Suddenly, a game that had appeared to be slipping away from Wilshere’s side was completely open again.
The comeback was completed in the fifth minute of added time when Gideon Kodua reacted inside the box to score from close range, sending the Luton supporters into wild celebrations and completing one of the most dramatic opening-day victories of the weekend.

Under his leadership, Luton won the EFL Trophy and narrowly missed out on the League One play-offs last season.
They also finished the campaign strongly, going unbeaten in their final 10 league matches and winning eight of those games.
The comeback against Reading suggested that the character Wilshere has been demanding from his players is already becoming a defining feature of his team.
