December 07, (THEWILL) – Alex Iwobi was the star performer as Fulham cruised to a 5-0 thrashing of Nottingham Forest at Craven Cottage. The Nigerian grabbed two goals to help pile more misery on beleaguered Forest boss Steve Cooper.
Iwobi opened the scoring when he was left unmarked to tap home from close range after a superb Willian cross. He then doubled his account in the second half with an instinctive first-time finish from a Harry Wilson cutback.
It was part of a supreme team display from Fulham that saw them bounce back from their agonizing late defeat at Liverpool last Sunday. Raul Jimenez also netted a brace, showing his predatory instincts twice to round the goalkeeper and finish calmly. Skipper Tom Cairney completed the scoring late on.
In the end, Fulham were dominant from start to finish, playing Forest off the park. The pressure continues to mount on Cooper after a fourth straight league loss for his side.
The result sees Fulham rise to 12th in the English Premier League table after their demolition job. Forest remain in 16th, lingering just above Luton on the edge of the drop zone.
