Investigate Police, Political Thugs Invasion Of Bullion Hotel – Ajadi Urges IGP, Ogun CP

October 06, (THEWILL) – The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Bullion Hotel, Simawa Area, Ogun State, Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo and his legal team, have called on the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun and the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Mr Abiodun Alamutu, to carry out a thorough investigation into the actions of the Police officers, who accompanied political thugs to invade his hotel last Tuesday.

THEWILL recalls that there was a report that about 20 political thugs along with some policemen, allegedly invaded Bullion Hotel in Shimawa Area of Ogun State.

Ajadi, who is a Chieftain of the New Nigeria People’s Party, (NNPP) and was the party’s governorship Candidate in Ogun State in the March 2023 election, said he is demanding accountability and justice for the alleged misconduct of the officers who invaded his hotel and ransacked the rooms without a search warrant.

He said the incident has raised serious questions about the conduct and professionalism of law enforcement personnel in the state, prompting calls for reform within the Police Force.

In a scathing critique of the officers’ actions, Ajadi described their behaviour as unskilled and unprofessional, asserting that they displayed none of the qualities expected of law enforcement personnel in the discharge of their duties.

According to Ajadi, the officers together with the thugs who were heavily armed stormed the Hotel in a commando manner in the early hours of Tuesday without any legal authorisation and thereby intimidated and embarrassed the occupants of the hotel.

He added that the police officers moved from one room to another searching underneath beds and wardrobes and giving blanket protection to thugs, who stole items belonging to the staff and guests who came to lodge in the hotel.

He said, “It was unfortunate for the officers and the thugs as their illegal and nefarious activities were captured by Hotel’s CCTV.

“Furthermore, the officers were not properly attired. Instead of the standard Police uniform and boots, they appeared wearing casual shirts and slippers, a stark deviation from the expected dress code”, Ajadi said.

Also speaking on the incident, the Head of Ajadi’s Legal Team, Barrister Isaac Izunya, said the Shimawa Divisional Police Officer (DPO) reportedly detained the individuals who had filed complaints about the incident and labeled them as suspects while releasing the original attackers and marking them as complainants.

Izunya said, “The DPO did not just stop at that but went ahead to make a case of attempted murder on the alleged complainants, who left their various homes to come to the hotel and suffered this unprovoked attack.

“The poser that will be calling for an answer is, how can someone who was attacked in his own apartment be facing the case of attempted murder?

“There was no arrest warrant to back up the illegal arrest made by the police officers and the physical assault meted out on the staff and the hotel’s guests,” he said.
