July 05, (THEWILL) – Inter Milan have announced contract extensions for two vital players, Alessandro Bastoni and Hakan Calhanoglu, who played crucial roles in the club’s impressive journey to the UEFA Champions League final last season.
In separate statements, Inter confirmed that 29-year-old Turkey captain, Calhanoglu, has signed a new deal that will keep him at the club until 2027. Meanwhile, defender Bastoni has extended his contract by one more year. Reports monitored by THEWILL from Italian media suggest that Bastoni’s salary has been increased to €5.5 million ($6 million) per season.
Calhanoglu, who joined Inter from local rivals AC Milan as a free agent two years ago, excelled in midfield during the previous campaign, contributing six goals and three assists in 49 appearances across all competitions. Meanwhile, Bastoni, an Italy international at the age of 24, has solidified his position on the left side of Inter’s three-man central defence, featuring prominently in 46 matches during an eventful season.
Inter Milan, who have already made signings such as France forward, Marcus Thuram, and Davide Frattesi in the current transfer window, finished third in Serie A, trailing champions Napoli by 18 points. Nevertheless, their remarkable UCL campaign included a resounding victory over Milan in the semi-finals before a narrow defeat against Manchester City in the final in Istanbul.
