INEC Declares APC’s Ani Winner Of Ebonyi South Senatorial Bye-Election

February 04, (THEWILL) – The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Professor Anthony Ani of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of Saturday’s Ebonyi South Senatorial bye-election.

Ani polled 46,270 votes to floor his closest rival, Ifeanyi Eleje of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), who scored 3,513, and Silas Onu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who polled 2,783 votes as well as Linus Okorie of the Labour Party (LP), who scored 2,710 votes.

The Returning Officer for the Ebonyi South Senatorial election, Eze Uchechukwu, disclosed this on Sunday, in Afikpo Local Government Area of the State.

Eze said Prof. Ani, having certified the requirements of the law and scored the highest votes, is declared the winner and returned elected.

The returning officer earlier announced that a total of 56,363 votes were cast, while 695 votes were rejected.
