October 01, (THEWILL) – The Leader of the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star (BCS), His Holiness Olumba Olumba Obu, has called for a “foundational reconstruction” of Nigeria.

Leader Obu made the call in Calabar in a message to mark the 63rd Independence anniversary of the country.

The BCS universal leader, whose message was signed by the organisation’s spokesman, PCS (Dr) Amah Williams, said going forward, building a strong moral and spiritual foundation should be the priority.

“Now is the time for foundational reconstruction. Building a stronger moral and spiritual foundation must now be the main priority for Nigerian leaders and people.

“A more solid foundation based on love for God and one another, justice, and fair opportunity for all must now replace fundamental beliefs and behaviours that have thrived on deception, hatred, and greed because, as our Lord Jesus Christ stated, only a house built on a solid foundation can stand forever.

“Leaders of this nation should know that peace emanates from an individual’s place of humility, tolerance, forgiveness, forbearance and the willingness to forgo possessions or pains for the sake of peace.

“Therefore, leaders at all levels must be ready to forgive, tolerate divergent opinions and respect each other,” he said.

The BCS leader also congratulated Nigerians, both at home and in the diaspora, for their tenacity, dedication to the advancement of their country, and enviably unwavering sense of patriotism that characterises its people everywhere.

He stressed that by the sheer grace of God, Nigeria has maintained its status as a continuously developing country despite its numerous difficulties, and its citizens are making their imprints on the international stage for various admirable causes.

He also said the prospect of a more prominent and prosperous country cannot be more certain as the country is the physical abode of God and has received divine peace and protection from His Holiness Olumba Olumba Obu.

He prayed that the peace and blessings of the Holy Father abide with Nigeria and Nigerians now and forevermore.
