SAN FRANCISCO, August 06, (THEWILL) – Governor Liyel Imoke of Cross River State has expressed shock and sadness over the untimely death of Alhaji Ibrahim Ademola Fashola, father of Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola.
Imoke lamented that the septuagenarian passed away at such a critical period when his wise and invaluable counsel was most needed.
In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Christian Ita, Imoke described the late Fashola as a worthy community leader, who lived a fulfilled life serving his people, Lagos State in particular and Nigeria in general.
The Governor, who said the demise of Pa Fashola has left a vacuum that will be difficult to fill, prayed Allah to grant Governor Fashola, his family and the people of Lagos State the fortitude to bear the loss.
PDP Condoles Fashola Over Father’s Death
The leadership and entire members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have commiserated with Governor Fashola over the death of Pa. Fashola.
A statement by the party said, “The passage of Pa. Fashola, even at the ripe age of 80 has indeed left a big vacuum not only in the Fashola family but in Lagos state and the entire nation at large.
“A devout Muslim, community leader and philanthropist, Pa. Fashola until his passage remained a shinning example of humility and a source of inspiration for the younger generation.
“Pa. Fashola was well known for his forthrightness and candour in handling issues which earned him the love and respect of all who came around him.
“We in the PDP mourn with Governor Fashola, the entire Fashola family and the people of Lagos state. We pray God to give the bereaved the fortitude the bear this irreparable loss, the statement signed by Barr Tony Caesar Okeke, the party’s Acting National Publicity Secretary said.
In the same vein, Betty & Rotimi Akeredolu Aketi, in a statement sent their condolences to Governor Fashola and his family.
The statement reads, “We have just received the sad news of the transition of Papa Ademola Fashola to eternal life. We join all other well-meaning Nigerians to extend our heart-felt condolences to our brother and friend the Governor of Lagos State Babatunde Raji Fashola, his amiable wife Bimbo and children in particular, and the entire members of Fashola clan in Lagos and elsewhere.
“Granted that death is a necessary end, some passages are phenomenal in that they leave indelible footprints on the sands of time. Any father who was able to invest in the education of his children to the point of giving the country well-trained children must be adjudged a great asset indeed.
“The father of a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and other professionals is a very successful man. The man who fathered Babatunde Fashola was an exceptional man. Being the father of the, man who has raised the bar of quintessential performance in governance is worthy of acknowledgement and celebration.
“BRF is a veritable mirror showcasing the quality of his family values.
“We pray that Almighty Allah will grant Papa eternal rest that he richly deserves and all necessary assistance on his journey to Aljana Firdaus.”
