June 30, (THEWILL) – The Interim Management Committee (IMC) of the Nigerian Premier League (NPL) has issued a reminder to all clubs participating in the league to commence their Club Licensing procedures ahead of the upcoming 2023/2024 season.
The season is scheduled to kick off on the weekend of August 26 to 27. Following the IMC’s submission of the season’s report to the Nigeria Football Federation, clubs that have qualified for CAF Club competitions have been invited to initiate their procedures in accordance with the CAF Club Licensing Regulations 2022.
League organisers strongly urged all participating clubs to take advantage of early completion of the process. They also cautioned that only clubs that have obtained the necessary licenses will be registered for the new season. In a memo sent by Davidson Owumi, the IMC’s Head of Operations, clubs were informed to contact NFF Licensing Managers, Nasiru Jibril and Queen U Otarakpo, for further information regarding the club licensing procedure.
In other news, the NPFL transfer window is set to open tomorrow and will remain open until September 1. This provides an opportunity for clubs to make necessary transfers and strengthen their squads ahead of the upcoming season. The clubs that have qualified to represent Nigeria in CAF club competitions are Enyimba International and Remo Stars for the CAF Champions League, while Rivers United and Bendel Insurance will compete in the CAF Confederation Cup.
