May 14, (THEWILL) – David Adeleke, otherwise known as Davido, says he spent nearly £400,000 (about N200 million) on the production of his last O2 Arena show.
The record label boss delivered fiery performances at London’s 20,000-capacity O2 Arena on March 5.
On Friday night, Davido was featured on Twitter Spaces, hosted by Zeze Miller, a media personality.
He said he spent about £400,000 on his production because he was trying to further project Afrobeats.
He said Afrobeats has evolved to become a top genre globally, so there is a need to be extremely prepared.
“Afrobeats is evolving like it’s becoming almost a top genre. The more prepared you are, the more they look,” the singer stated.
“Ten years ago, I don’t think I would have agreed on spending 30 or 40k on my production for a show.
But the production I did at the O2 this last time was almost £400,000 and that’s just because of how we are trying to portray Afrobeats.”
Last Friday, Davido released Stand Strong, the first single off his forthcoming fourth album.
