I Shunned Sex For Nine Months To Make My New Album – Brymo

GTBCO FOOD DRINL

September 17, (THEWILL) – Vocalist and songwriter, Olawale Olarewaju, aka Brymo, has shared one of the rituals that assisted him in creating his last album.

He said, “I have never applied the same process for any album, every album comes with its own natural process. For instance, with ‘Nine’, people have to have sex to get pregnant and have kids so it had to be the reverse of it to make an album. I had to avoid it (sex) to create an album to get the same kind of effect and yes that was the idea for that particular album.”

While reacting to an assertion that celibacy improves one’s intellectual vibration as a creative, he said, “it created an opportunity to do two things, be faithful and to also be highly productive, it was a miracle, what I needed was what love required of me, so it thought me a lot on this issues concerning infidelity, faithfulness, loyalty, disloyalty, they happen because we are not attentive, usually whatever the other person requires of you for genuine love is what you need for genuine growth and I am lucky I got to see that because it made it possible sort of for me to be able to do what I did and I won’t lie in that nine months the actual time of celibacy was probably not more than six months.”

The projects, “Èsan” and “Harmattan and Winter,” have nine tracks each, which according to the singer, was dedicated to the love of his life.
