September 26, (THEWILL) – Last month, one of the pioneers of modern-day fast-food eateries, Kehinde Kamson of Sweet Sensation, clocked 60. The beautiful grandmother of three didn’t let the day pass by without rolling out the drums. The celebrations began on Saturday August 14 with an intimate family thanksgiving service held at the family chapel in her sprawling home on the Island. The service was presided over by clergymen from the Methodist Church on Tinubu Square and the Redeemed Christian Church of God. It was a moment of sober reflection and thanksgiving to God for sparing her life and that of her twin brother, Taiwo Adelaja. The celebrations continued on Sunday, August 15 with a virtual party with over 300 people in attendance to celebrate the life of Kamson and her brother. Later that day, a few close friends, associates and family members converged at her home to continue with the celebration. The party was planned this way due to the pervading COVID-19 pandemic. But despite the limitations, many didn’t mind as all they wanted to do was honour an accomplished entrepreneur.
The journey to building the brand sweet sensation began after she resigned from her job in an oil servicing firm as an accounting graduate to spend more time with her children. To keep busy and earn money on the side, she began baking, marketing, and using her car to supply cakes and other pastries to different outlets, individuals and groups. She did this for eight years before setting up her first outlet, which eventually grew to be replicated all over the Lagos metropolis. Sweet Sensation soon became one of the fastest-growing eateries in town, receiving the highly coveted Century International Quality Era Award in faraway Geneva, Switzerland.
