November 1 (THEWILL) – Nigerian chef, Hilda Effiong Bassey, otherwise known as Hilda Baci, has opened up about her poor relationship with her father and how he abandoned her and her siblings.
The Guinness World Record holder has revealed that her father had always been involved in her and her siblings’ lives.
However, things changed when a heated argument happened between him and her mother, which affected their relationship.
She said, “My daddy issue is more about abandonment. My dad did not abandon me from the onset. I felt like my dad was present, at least to the best of my memory. My dad tried what he could but you know when they say parents have issues, like whenever the elephant is fighting the ground suffers, and we the kids were the ground when the elephants were fighting.
“I was calling my dad during my matriculation to ask him why he didn’t bring food and his response to me was ‘Who is your dad?’ So, I started telling myself, ‘If I make it, if I have enough, if I blow well, he will come around.”
