Hosting of SW Govs’ Meeting in Lagos Commendable – Group

October 29, (THEWILL) – A pan-Lagos socio-political organization, Egbe Omoluabi Eko (Egbe), has described as commendable the recent hosting of all the South-West governors in Lagos by Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu as a commendable initiative that can cement the unity of the region properly.

The group’s leader, Comrade Ibrahim Ekundayo, in a chat with our correspondent in the Alimosho area of the state on Friday said if other regions follow suit, its multiplier effects would be unimaginable, enthusing that, such would lead to more understanding across the country and can even lead to the end of all the security challenges in the country.

According to him, constant rubbing of minds among leaders to compare notes on citizens’ wants would go a long way to erase the mutual suspicion, distrust and misgivings being harboured against one another. He added that nothing fosters unity and togetherness better than open-minded dialogue and discussions.

The rights activist, while commending Sanwo-Olu for hosting his colleagues and showcasing the stuff Lagos is made of, expressed delight that, when it comes to doing things correctly, Sanwo-Olu is never found wanting.

According to him, the gathering was made more heartwarming by the visit the governors paid to one of the Yoruba leaders, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, at his residence, pointing out that it is the right step toward fostering unity among the Yoruba, irrespective of party affiliation or religious differences.

While advising leaders across all the six geo-political zones in the country to emulate the south-west governors’ initiative, Ekundayo reasoned that the initiative can be taken a step further by extending its handshake across the Niger and Benue.

“Nothing could be too much a sacrifice for the unity and togetherness of the country,” Ekundayo reasoned, asserting that, “visitations across the country to discuss various issues of national interest with our brothers and sisters across the length and breadth of the country will heal fast, all the perceived injuries allegedly inflicted on our collective psyche.”

The group leader also urged that such camaraderie should percolate down to the followers for peace and tranquillity to reign in the country.
