June 30, (THEWILL) – Miles Bridges, a basketballer for the Charlotte Hornets, was detained on felony domestic abuse charges on Wednesday, in Los Angeles.

According to law enforcement officials, a woman “required medical attention” after a confrontation with Bridges “turned physical” on Tuesday. The former Hornet was also gone when police got on the site. The 24-year-old turned himself in to the police, however, and was later freed on a $130,000 bail.

In the 2018 NBA Draft, Bridges was selected by the Los Angeles Clippers, who later traded his draught rights to Charlotte, as the 12th overall pick. Bridges has played his first four seasons with the Hornets.

In 80 games, the Michigan State product averaged 20.2 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 3.8 assists while shooting 49.1 percent from the field and 33.1 percent from outside the arc in his breakout 2021–22 season. Only on Wednesday, the Hornets made Bridges a qualifying offer, making him a restricted free agency this summer.

As Charlotte would not give him a maximum contract, he was instead going to try to find a max deal elsewhere when free agency begins on Thursday. It so happened that in the previous offseason, Bridges declined a four-year, $60 million deal offer from the Hornets.
