Chelsea finally secured a much-needed victory on Sunday, beating Crystal Palace 1-0 in a thrilling match at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues dominated the early stages of the match, with Carney Chukwuemeka and Lewis Hall both playing dangerous balls into the box. Palace struggled to create space in the box, but Michael Olise caused a scare for Chelsea with a lofted cross and a thunderous strike.

Both goalkeepers had to make excellent saves, with Vicente Guaita denying Thiago Silva and Kepa Arrizabalaga punching away a fierce effort from Wilfried Zaha. The match remained scoreless until the second half when Kai Havertz scored the decisive goal with a header following a brilliant cross from Hakim Ziyech.

Palace tried to mount a comeback but Cheick Doucoure’s strike was stopped by an excellent save from Kepa, who tipped it to the bar. Chelsea’s defence held strong until the final whistle to secure the crucial maximum points for the win.

The Blues end a run of four games without a win, stay in 10th place and draw level on points with Liverpool, their next opponent. On the other hand, Palace have now lost their last three matches and stay in 12th place. They will host Manchester United on Wednesday.
