August 06, (THEWILL) – The player at the middle of a transfer discussion between Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City, Harry Kane, has come forward to dismiss suggestions that he refused to train with Tottenham in an attempt to seal a move to City.
As THEWILL reported, Kane was absent from training on Monday and failed to show up for the next 48 hours. He was said to have extended his holiday to a point that he is now expected to miss Spurs’ EPL opener, which just so happens to be against City, the club he is suspected to favour.
Seeing the frustration that the chaotic situation has caused for some Spurs fans, Kane took to Twitter to clear things up personally: “It’s almost ten years since I made my Spurs debut.
“For every one of those years, you – the fans – have shown me total support and love. That’s why it hurts to read some of the comments that have been made this week, questioning my professionalism.
“While I won’t go into the specifics of the situation, I want to clarify that I would never, and have never, refused to train. I will be returning to the club tomorrow, as planned.
“I wouldn’t do anything to jeopardise the relationship I have with the fans who have given me such unwavering support during my time with the club. This has always been the case as it is today.”
The 28-year-old has not shied away from expressing discontent at the club based on their running failure to win trophies and a promise he claims was made to him by Daniel Levy, President of the north London outfit. Levy purportedly promised him that he would be sold this summer if Spurs failed to compete for silverware last season.
This has flatly been denied by Levy and he has refused to sell Kane to City or any other English club. He insists that the only way his striker will leave Tottenham is if a club overseas shells out a cool £150m of transfer fees.
However, that has not deterred a City side determined to bring the English captain to the Etihad. It has become their focus now after the capture of Jack Grealish from Aston Villa on Thursday. Levy is yet to show any indication of agreeing to sell but things may change when the money moves.
