September 15, (THEWILL) – In a hard-fought UEFA Champions League 2-1 victory over Borussia Dortmund at the Etihad Stadium, Erling Haaland turned the tables on his former team with a magnificent acrobatic goal.

In the 84th minute, Haaland sealed the victory for the home team with a spectacular backheeled volley after receiving a beautiful cross from Joao Cancelo. During a two-year stint at Dortmund, Haaland averaged over a goal per game in the UCL, a streak he looks at to continue at City.

Jude Bellingham’s goal for Dortmund after the break had placed City on the verge of an unexpected loss, but John Stones’ long-range shot beat Alexander Meyer to draw the hosts level.

Mats Hummels and Niklas Sule held City quiet for the majority of the game, but the unstoppable Haaland broke through in spectacular fashion late on to ensure City kept their spotless record in the current campaign.

On Saturday, City will play their next English Premier League game against Wolverhampton Wanderers, while Dortmund will compete in the Bundesliga’s Revierderby against Schalke.
