March 15, (THEWILL) – Erling Haaland has made football history again as he became the youngest player ever to reach 30-plus goals in the UEFA Champions League, beating Kylian Mbappe’s previous record.

The Manchester City striker achieved the milestone during the first half of their match against RB Leipzig, scoring a hat-trick that included two goals in two minutes. At only 22 years and 236 days old, Haaland surpassed the likes of Lionel Messi and Raul in becoming the quickest to reach this mark.

The Norwegian’s record-breaking did not stop there. Haaland also set a new record for the fewest games required to reach 30 Champions League goals, taking just 25 matches to do so. This breaks the previous record held by Ruud van Nistelrooy, who achieved the feat in 34 games, and Robert Lewandowski, who took 46 games to reach the same milestone.

Haaland’s latest record has further cemented his status as one of the most promising talents in football today. His first-half hat-trick on Tuesday night included a penalty and two headed goals, both of which came from rebounds. He had not scored during the first leg against Leipzig in Germany, but he made up for it with a stunning performance at the Etihad Stadium.

Haaland’s remarkable achievements in the UCL have caught the attention of football fans worldwide, and he looks set to continue breaking records in the future.
