November 17, (THEWILL) – Manchester City’s preparations for their upcoming clash against Liverpool have been disrupted by an injury to star striker Erling Haaland. The Norwegian forward was forced off late in his country’s 2-0 friendly win over Faroe Islands on Thursday night.

Haaland went down clutching his ankle in the final minutes of the match. Norway team doctor Ola Sand hinted that it was a similar ankle problem that Haaland has suffered from previously. This will be a major concern for City boss Pep Guardiola ahead of the crunch match against Liverpool on November 25.

The prolific striker has been in admirable form this season, scoring 17 goals in just 18 appearances across all competitions. Any absence would be a huge blow to City’s chances against Jurgen Klopp’s side. The two teams are currently at the very top of the English Premier League table with City top on 28 points after 12 games and Liverpool second on 27 points.

Guardiola will face an anxious wait to see if Haaland can recover in time for the clash at Anfield in just over a week. With the season reaching a critical stage, the Spaniard will hope his star striker’s injury is only minor.

With City’s title hopes resting heavily on Haaland’s fitness and goalscoring prowess, their fans will be expecting positive news from the medical team. Meanwhile, Norway’s next match is another Euro 2024 qualifier against Scotland on November 19.
