January 10, (THEWILL) – Gunmen, on Monday night, engaged operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in a shoot out on Awolowo road, Ikoyi, Lagos.
THEWILL learnt that the daring confrontation happened last night when the NDLEA operatives made an attempt to arrest the driver of a truck loaded with several bags of Cannabis.
A source, who spoke with Vanguard, disclosed that the armed men, suspected to belong to a yet-to-be-identified security agency, also smashed one of the operational vehicles of the anti-narcotic agency.
It was, however, gathered that some military men intervened in the shoot out, and prevented what would have resulted in a bloodbath.
The assailants, however, escaped the scene with the driver of the truck abandoning the vehicle.
