April 19, (THEWILL) – Unknown gunmen, on Thursday night, shot dead the traditional ruler of Sansani Chiefdom in Gassol Local Government Area of Taraba State, Alhaji Abdulmutalib Nuhu Jankada.
The perpetrators were said to have stormed the village at night and headed straight to the residence of the third-class Chief, where they shot him several times.
The brother of the deceased, Mr. Salihu Yusuf Sansani, who confirmed the incident in a telephone interview with our correspondent on Friday morning, described the murder of his late brother as unfortunate and a great loss to the family and the people of the area.
“They came to the area at about 9pm last night. They went straight to his palace, shot and killed him, and snatched his two phones. While they were going, they met with a young man who was coming on a motorcycle, they also shot and broke his leg before leaving the village,” he narrated.
When contacted, the acting Police Public Relations Officer, ASP James Lashen, said he was yet to get details of the incident and would respond as soon as he received more details.
