Grace Foundation Youth Unemployment Confab Holds February

BEVERLY HILLS, CA, January 26, (THEWILL) – A Benin-based non-profit organisation, Grace Foundation, will hold its virtual conference for the year from February 7 to 28.

The event, which is organised as an e-forum, according to a statement issued by the coordinator of the organisation, Dr. Joan.Osa Oviawe, will bring together over 300 participants from government, international and local NGO’s, and other interest groups from all over the world to discuss the issue of high unemployment among Nigerian youths.

The theme of the conference, the statement said, is Empowering Nigerian Youths for Better Livelihoods: Through Education, Entrepreneurship and Employment. It stressed that during the e-conference, participants will brainstorm on different options for skills’ acquisition and professional training assistance for unemployed Nigerian youths.

“In addition, participants, through a series of discussion questions, will explore ways to partner with various organisations to support the cause of reducing the rate of unemployment in Nigeria,” the statement said, adding “The discussions will be moderated by a team of experts.”

According to the statement, the three-week virtual conference aims to document the experiences of Nigerians who are either unemployed or under-employed.

“This e-forum is an opportunity for them to share their knowledge, experiences, professional development needs, ideas and suggestions which relates to youth unemployment in Nigeria,” it stressed. Participants at the forum, according to the organisers, will be encouraged to identify barriers they face in accessing employment opportunities and the role of government, schools, private sector, skills acquisition and entrepreneurial programmes in Nigeria.

The coordinator of the organisation, Oviawe, said “Grace Foundation calls on Nigerians between the ages of 18-45 to share their experiences, concerns and needs,” adding “The e-forum is also open to policy makers, practitioners in the public and private sectors, researchers as well as other experts.”

The proceedings of the e-forum, the statement noted, will be summarised into a report, which will guide the launch of a free webinar series designed to provide free professional development training and career assistance to unemployed and under-employed Nigerian youths.

The Grace Foundation e-Forum, according to the organisers, is a great opportunity for organisations and members of the public, who are interested in the welfare of Nigerian youths, to gain a deeper understanding of the issues they face, and to pool together ideas to help combat the menace of unemployment
