November 26, (THEWILL) – Penultimate week, Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde’s list of traditional titles increased by one when he got decorated as the Jagunmolu of Ondo Kingdom by the Osemawe and Paramount Ruler of Ondo Kingdom, His Highness, Oba (Dr) Adesimbo Kiladejo, CFR.

The conferment ceremony coincided with the traditional ruler’s 17th coronation ceremony and his 70th birthday. Makinde was conferred with the title alongside his wife, Tamunominini.

According to the traditional ruler, Makinde was honoured because he (Oba Adesimbo) recognised the governor’s contributions to Oyo and the Southwest in general through his astute performances in every facet of human endeavor, including the welfare of the state workforce, the retirees and the downtrodden. All of Makinde’s accomplishments tie directly to the promises he made to the Oyo people. These include the provision of safe, adequate, and efficient transport infrastructure; the revitalisation of rural economies, with a cyclic-system of empowerment and patronage; social inclusion for women and formerly marginalised groups; and many more.
