Gov Otu Swears In 31 Commissioners, Assigns Portfolios

August 16, (THEWILL) – Cross River State Governor, Senator Bassey Otu, has sworn in thirty-one Commissioners as members of his cabinet and assigned portfolios to them.

The inauguration of the Commissioners, which took place at the Temporary Governor’s Office at Dan Archibong Lodge, on Wednesday, was witnessed by the State Deputy Governor, Peter Odey and the Chief Judge of the State, Akon Ikpeme.

The Governor charged the new Commissioners to ensure that the State is brought back to life.

As part of the swearing-in exercise, portfolios were assigned to the new Commissioners with Mike Odere assigned to the Ministry of Finance.

Ededem Ani will take charge of the Ministry of Justice while Stephen Odey, a former Senator representing Cross River North in the National Assembly, will take charge of the Education Ministry.

Dr. Beatrice Igwe, a former bursar of the University of Calabar, will take charge of the Housing Ministry while a former State Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Erasmus Ekpang, will superintend the Information Ministry.

The Governor also unbundled the Agriculture Ministry and created the Ministry of Crops and Irrigation Development with Johnson Ebekpo as Commissioner.

Similarly, Ntufam Emmanuel Anom was assigned to the new Ministry of Livestock, Aquaculture and Fisheries Development.

Other notable ministries are the Ministry of Human Capital and Entrepreneurial Development with Hon. Kingsley Egumi as Commissioner while Patrick Egbede will take charge of the Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment.
