Gov Otti Swears In New Commissioners

July 07, (THEWILL) – Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, on Friday, swore in sixteen commissioners as members of the State Executive Council.

The development came after the commissioners were cleared by the State House of Assembly.

Speaking at a brief ceremony held at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Umuahia, Otti said three additional appointees, who are awaiting clearance, will be sworn in next week.

The pending appointees include Mike Akpara, who is currently undergoing medical treatment abroad, Ngozi Blessing Felix, and Ikechukwu Monday, who recently returned from overseas.

The list of the new Commissioners includes:

1. Prof Monica Ironkwe – Agriculture

2. Kingsely Anoribe – Budget and Planning

3. Prof Eme Uche – Education

4. Philemon Asonye Ogbonna – Environment

5. Ngozi Okoronkwo – Health

6. Okey Kanu – Information

7. Ikechukwu Uwanna – Justice and Attorney General

8. Chaka Chukwumereije – Lands and Survey

9. Uzo Nwachukwu – Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs

10. Prof Joel Friday Ogbonna – Petroleum and Mineral Resources

11. Chima Emmanuel Oriaku – Science and Technology

12. Nwaobilor Nwadimma Ananaba – Sports

13. Dr Chimezie Isaac Ukaegbu – Trade Commerce and Industry

14. Engr Don Otumchere Oti – Works

15. Comrade Sunny Okebugwu Onwuma – Transport

16. Mathew Chikodi Ekwuribe – Digital Economy and Small and Medium Enterprises (SME)

Awaiting Clearance

1. Mike Akpara – Finance

2. Ngozi Blessing Felix – Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation

3. Engr Ikechukwu Monday – Power and Public Utilities
