Gov Nwifuru Charges Corps Members On National Unity, Peace

November 29, (THEWILL) – The Governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Nwifuru, has advised the 2023 Batch C stream II Corps members to be preoccupied with national unity, peace and integration of the country, especially at this challenging period, adding that “we must co-exist to achieve these common goals, irrespective of our cultural backgrounds.”

Nwifuru, who spoke during the swearing-in of the Corps members through the Chairman, NYSC State Governing Board and the Hon. Commissioner, Youth Development and Sports, Ebonyi State, Hon Richard Ugo Idike, further extolled the NYSC for being a veritable instrument of national unity, development and a strong bond that binds our multifarious ethnic nationalities into one people. He wished the corps members a happy orientation course programme.

In his address, the Chairman, NYSC State Governing Board, Hon Richard Ugo Idike, who congratulated the corps members for qualifying for the call-up, formally welcomed them to Ebonyi State, urging them to feel at home, for the Ebonyi people are not only hospitable but also kind-hearted, among others.

The State Coordinator, NYSC, Ebonyi State, Mrs Oladeinde Foluke, in her address, called on the corps members to take every aspect of the orientation course seriously by participating actively, especially in the SAED programme. She encouraged them to key into it for job and wealth creation. She also used the opportunity to thank the State Government and the good people of Ebonyi State for the love and support the scheme has enjoyed in the State.

In Ebonyi State, a total of 1820 corps members, made up of 896 females and 924 males, took the NYSC Oath of Allegiance, which was administered by the representative of the Chief Judge of Ebonyi State, Hon Justice Nicolas Nwode.

The highlight of the ceremony was the matching forward by the representatives of the corps members before the Chief Judge to perform the sample signing of the pledge form, performance by members of the cheerleaders group and display by members of the Man ‘0’ War.

The ceremony was well attended by many important dignitaries, including the Ag. Director, SEAO, Mr. Jimba Olawale Chris, State Government functionaries, heads of federal parastatals and state agencies.
