September 30, (THEWILL) – Governor Francis Ogbonnaya Nwifuru, of Ebonyi State, has called on the people of the State, to criticise his administration constructively, while also exercising patience with it, to deliver on the needs of the Ebonyi people.

Nwifuru made the call during a media chat/account of stewardship of exco members held in Abakaliki as part of activities to mark Nigeria’s 63rd Independence Anniversary and 27 years of Ebonyi State creation.

According to the Governor, the event would allow his executive council members to disclose the modest achievements of his administration from May 29, 2023.

“It would afford the Commissioners the opportunity to showcase their modest achievements since assumption of office on 29 May 2023”, he said.

Nwifuru, who further stated that his emergence as Governor is an opportunity to serve Ebonyi people at this critical time, said the manifesto of his administration is to consolidate on the achievements of the immediate past administration of Governor David Nwaeze Umahi.

He disclosed that within one hundred and fifty-two days of his administration, he had been vested to drive the policies that border on the needs of the people.

“The Commissioners are the ones in charge of the implementation of our manifesto and today we are here to interact with you to disclose our modest achievements and strides. This portrays our commitment to our adherence to the tenets of democracy.

“We have set the foundation for the future to serve Ebonyi people and serve the future of our children and to satisfy the needs of our people.

“We request that you continue to support us because the government cannot do it alone. We need constructive criticism and patience because we are not perfect. It is our collective responsibility to ensure that we deliver”, he reiterated.

Speaking earlier, the Ebonyi State Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Hon. Jude Chikadibia Okpor, who set the event’s tone, said executive council members would tell the world what they have achieved within the shortest time.

“You have your clear vision of leadership well gazetted. You are here to tell Ebonyi what you have achieved over the shortest period of time. Governance is based on the needs and wants of the people.

“Exco members are going to tell the whole world what you have achieved. It is the direction of what you will achieve in the next eight years”, he stated.

Taking the first shot to present his account of stewardship, Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of the State, Professor Ben Odoh said since the assumption of office on May 29, his ministry has ensured a paradigm shift by digitalising the activities of the ministry.

He said Ebonyi State now has an e-ministry of justice such that the public can now access case status to ascertain lawyers who are serious about handling their cases.

“We have developed an e-ministry of justice. You can sit at your house and check our case in court and see what we are doing at the Ministry of Justice. With this, we will be able to know lawyers who are not serious with their cases”, he said.
