Golfers Honour Woods, Wear His Signature Red And Black Wear

BEVERLY HILLS, February 28, (THEWILL) – Golf and sports fans have showered iconic American golfer Tiger Woods with wishes for his quick recovery after his single-car auto crash on Tuesday sent him to surgery. Many of his contemporaries in the tour were among the very first to react with deep feelings of sympathy and solidarity.

As the 15-time major champion recuperates, top players on tour have decidedly made an act of honour for one of their own by wearing what has become an iconic signature Sunday outfit of the superstar himself: the red T-Shirt and black pants.

Former world number one Rory McIlroy and American Patrick Reed both personally said they will wear red shirts and black pants for their Sunday WGC-Workday Championship. Already, English golfer Tommy Paul Fleetwood and Cameron Mackray Champ showcased the look early in the round: neat, tucked-in red tops and pants in black to fit.

Another player to follow suit is Justin Thomas, who showed his similar outfit on social media through his official Twitter account (@JustinThomas34), posted with the words: “Seemed fitting for tomorrow after the kind of week we’ve had… Black and red on Sunday for TW!”

It will also be the preferred wear for Tournament leader Collin Morikawa on Sunday. At the Puerto Rico Open, the entire maintenance staff donned the signature outfit out of respect for the hospitalised Woods.

The 45-year-old made it a regular act to wear red shirts for the final rounds of tournaments throughout his career, leading to plenty of memorable moments on the way to the 15 major championships of his professional career.

Woods was hospitalised on Tuesday after the crash and sustained “significant” leg injuries that required extensive surgery. As reported by THEWILL, a statement from Woods’ crew said the golfer was “recovering and in good spirits.”

All these acts go to show the unity of solidarity for an iconic sportsman who displayed professionalism and class on the way to greatness in his sport of choice. THEWILL wishes him a speedy recovery.
