February 19, (THEWILL) – Crystal Palace have confirmed the appointment of 49-year-old Austrian Oliver Glasner as their new manager. Glasner, who led Eintracht Frankfurt to Europa League success in 2022, has signed a two-year deal with the English Premier League club to remain as manager until the end of the 2025/2026 season.

The appointment comes just hours after Palace announced the departure of 76-year-old Roy Hodgson, who stepped down from the managerial role after falling ill during a training session last Thursday. Hodgson is now out of hospital and recovering well.

Glasner brings a strong track record to Palace, with success coming quickly at his previous managerial positions. Palace Chairman Steve Parish expressed delight in welcoming Glasner to the club, stating: “Wherever Oliver has gone so far in his managerial journey, success has been quick to follow.”

Parish believes Glasner’s ambition and attacking approach make him the perfect fit to get the most out of Palace’s talented young squad for the remainder of this season and beyond. Glasner will be tasked with building on the foundation left by Hodgson during his 4 years at the club.

With EPL safety in the mix, Glasner will be looking to strongly help Crystal Palace finish the 2023/2024 campaign before putting his stamp on the squad ahead of next season. Palace fans will be hoping the Austrian can establish the club as an attacking force to be reckoned with.
