BEVERLY HILLS, July 21, (THEWILL) – Several days after he fainted as a result of a hunger strike inside a cell inside the State Security Service, SSS, detention facility in Abuja, Gordon Obua, the former chief security officer (CSO), to former President Goodluck Jonathan, is now recuperating.
THEWILL learnt that he was being held for his part in alleged security spending by the Jonathan administration and allegations of oil theft.
Obua embarked on the hunger strike to protest his detention conditions shortly after he was taken on July 16, by the SSS.
After about two days in the hospital where he was treated, Obua, who is said to be suffering from hypertension and diabetes, was discharged on Monday and returned to SSS headquarters where he is currently being detained.
There were speculations earlier that Obua had died in SSS custody.
