Gabriel Completes Arsenal Comeback Against Fulham To Maintain Gunners’ Dream Start

August 28, (THEWILL) – Arsenal retained their perfect Premier League record with a 2-1 victory over Fulham, thanks to a late goal from Gabriel Magalhaes, who atoned for a dreadful error.

After a barren first half in Saturday’s London derby at the Emirates Stadium, Aleksandar Mitrovic scored his 100th goal for the club against the run of play by taking advantage of Gabriel’s mistake to give the Cottagers the lead.

Then, former Arsenal goalkeeper, Bernd Leno, who had kept the Gunners at bay, was helpless as Martin Ødegaard restored parity with a deflected strike before Leno fumbled at a corner kick in the 85th minute, that Gabriel took full advantage of to make up for his mistake.

The Gunners’ victory in Mikel Arteta’s 100th Premier League game placed them back on top of the standings and made it four wins in a row in the top division this season, still the only club with a perfect record so far.

Arsenal reclaimed the top spot after Manchester City briefly held it after their earlier victory against Crystal Palace. While Arsenal hosts Aston Villa on Wednesday, Fulham, who drop to the bottom half with the loss, will play Brighton on Tuesday.
