September 11, (THEWILL) – The French Football League (LFP) has proposed to mediate the dispute between Kylian Mbappe and Paris Saint-Germain over unpaid wages and bonuses.

Mbappe, who recently joined Real Madrid, claims PSG owes him €55 million, which includes his signing bonus, final months of salary, and an “ethical bonus”. PSG contends that Mbappe had agreed to waive these payments in August 2023.

The conflict escalated when Mbappe referred his case to the LFP’s legal committee, leading to a two-hour hearing on Wednesday, involving lawyers from both parties.

Following the hearing, PSG released a statement expressing satisfaction with the proceedings. The club emphasised that Mbappe had made public and private commitments that should be respected, considering the “unprecedented benefits” he received during his seven-year tenure in Paris.

The LFP commission, after hearing arguments from both sides, suggested mediation as a potential solution. PSG welcomed this proposal, stating they have been seeking mediation for several months. The commission has now invited Mbappe to consider participating in the mediation process.

This dispute comes in the wake of Mbappe’s high-profile transfer to Real Madrid in 2024, ending his successful stint with PSG. The outcome of this financial disagreement could have significant implications for both the player and the club, potentially setting a precedent for future contract disputes in professional football.
