November 09, (THEWILL) – Nottingham Forest may have ended the game with 10 men, but they turned up an impressive effort to defeat Tottenham 2-0 on Wednesday and eliminate them from the EFL Cup.
The Premier League’s worst team won thanks to goals from Renan Lodi and Jesse Lingard in the second half, but tensions were raised when Orel Mangala was dismissed with 15 minutes left.
Tottenham has a history of producing incredible comebacks, so Antonio Conte selected a strong lineup at the City Ground, including Harry Kane and only four changes from the squad that lost to Liverpool on Sunday.
However, they were unable to turn the tide this time, and they have now dropped two straight games before facing Leeds United in their final matchup before the World Cup.
On Saturday, both teams will play in league games, with Tottenham hosting Leeds United at home and Nottingham Forest hosting Crystal Palace at home.
