March 25, (THEWILL) – Billionaire businesswoman, Apostle Folorunsho Alakija, is set to empower 500 female entrepreneurs with 1 billion naira.
She is set to donate the money through her Non-Governmental Organisation, Flourish Africa.
The fund, which will come in the form of a grant, is a step towards supporting the entrepreneurial activities of female–owned businesses in Africa and helping them to achieve their potential.
Set to kick off in Lagos and in Abuja, of the 1 billion naira, a sum of 2 million naira will be disbursed to 100 women every year for five years, after they must have gone through a vigorous selection process.
The beneficiaries would also be exposed to business and life skill training programmes to help them grow their businesses sustainably.
Alakija launched Flourish Africa during her 70th birthday as a gift to hardworking and enterprising women. Her initiative would focus on empowering women economically and socially for the benefit of their immediate families and the society.
She will partner with Eloh Consulting, to train the entrepreneurs in ten modules of management development over three months, while Google would train them on how to use the Google Business app to create visibility and grow their businesses.
