Fire Guts Section Of Dangote Refinery

June 25, (THEWILL) – A section of the 650 million barrels per day Dangote Refinery and Petrochemicals in Lagos, has been gutted by fire.

A spokesperson at Dangote Industries Limited, Anthony Chiejina, said the minor incident, which occurred at the effluent treatment plant (ETP), had been contained.

“It has been contained. It was at the effluent treatment plant, where they treated waste. It is a minor incident. It will not in any way affect the operations,” he said.

An ETP is a type of wastewater treatment method, which is specifically designed to purify industrial wastewater for its reuse, to release safe water to the environment from the harmful effects caused by the effluent.

The refinery, which is located in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State, is owned by Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote.
