SAN FRANCISCO, May 14, (THEWILL) – World governing football body, FIFA, has decided to cancel the 2020 ‘The Best’ awards ceremony.
For the first time since 1991 the glamorous world Footballer of the year will not hold because of the corona pandemic and Messi will continue to be the reigning champion.

According to Spanish Newspaper, Marca, FIFA decided to cancel the award ceremony because of the outbreak of the coronavirus which has crippled football activities in the world.
It stated: “FIFA will leave the trophy that recognizes the best player of the 19-20 season without a winner, burdened by the COVID-19 pandemic which has paralyzed world football.
The ceremony was supposed to take place in September of this year in Milan, but the social and health conditions have made FIFA cancel this year’s edition.”
