FG Has Nothing Against Me – Saraki Tells CCT

BEVERLY HILLS, May 04, (THEWILL) – Senate President Bukola Saraki has declared that he intends to file a no-case submission at his ongoing trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT).

Saraki is facing charges of false asset declaration brought against him by the Federal Government at the CCT.

However, Paul Erokoro (SAN), counsel to Saraki, on Thursday, asked the tribunal for leave to file the application of no-case submission instead of opening a defence.

This implies that the Senate President will not be opening a defence but will simply be asking the tribunal to discharge him on the grounds that there is no case against him.

Rotimi Jacobs, counsel to the Federal Government told the tribunal, on Thursday, that he had‎ closed his case having called his fourth and last witness, Bayo Daudu, a senior staff member of Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB) and account officer of the senate President.

After hearing from Erokoro, the Chairman of the tribunal, Danladi Umar, adjourned the case till June 8 for adoption of written addresses.
