SAN FRANCISCO, July 30, (THEWILL) – A female suicide bomber has targeted the Kano State Polytechnic just as students were checking for their names on an admission list.
Witnesses told THEWILL that the casualties are many.
The fourth female suicide attack within 7 days in Kano, left at least six people dead and another six with wounds.
The police however downplayed the number saying only 3 persons were killed.
Some security analysts who spoke to THEWILL have linked the rising number of young female suicide bombers in northern Nigeria to the forceful abduction of about 230 schoolgirls from their dormitory in Chibok, Borno State, by the Boko Haram.
On Monday, one young female suicide bomber blew herself up near the Kano Trade Fair complex and Shoprite mall along Zungeru Road in Kano. Another young female bomber blew herself at a mega petrol station operated by the NNPC. At least 5 people were killed in both attacks including the bombers.
On Sunday, a female suicide bomber killed herself while targeting police officers.
The attacks bear the trademark of the Boko Haram though the group is yet to openly claim responsibility for them.
