February 10, (THEWILL) – Atletico Madrid loanee, Joao Felix, has expressed his fondness for Chelsea but remained unsure of his future with the club.

The 23-year-old was brought to Stamford Bridge in January, as part of a six-month loan deal, but the agreement did not include an option for the Blues to make the move permanent. Felix acknowledged that the club would have to negotiate a traditional transfer with Atletico if they wanted to keep him beyond this season.

In a recent interview, Felix said: “I feel very good at Chelsea, I like the club. They don’t have a purchase option, so they’d have to reach an agreement with Atletico. I’m still getting to know my new surroundings, but I really like it here. However, it’s impossible to say what’ll happen in the future.”

The Portuguese had an eventful start to his time with Chelsea, shining in his derby against Fulham before a red card earned him a three-game suspension. He is set to return to action on Saturday, against West Ham.

Reflecting on the red card suspension, Felix said: “I didn’t let it get me down. Getting a red card on your debut is obviously a bit tougher to take, but I kept calm. I was doing well and I’m confident in my ability.”
