BEVERLY HILLS, March 07, (THEWILL) – Ekiti State’s Governor Kayode Fayemi has commiserated with the families of two farmers reportedly killed by suspected Bororo herdsmen, at Isaba Ekiti, in the Ikole Local Government Area of the state,

The farmers, Toyin Akeju, popularly known as Jisoro, and Yusuf Onuche, were found dead on Saturday, March 6, in their farms with wounds from gunshots reportedly to have been fired by some criminal Bororo herdsmen terrorising the state.

The tragic development which came amid mounting ethnic tension over the atrocities of Fulani herdsmen has degenerated into a crisis in the affected community.

Angered by the killing, residents of Isaba Ekiti, staged a protest that affected vehicular and commercial activities.

In a series of tweets on Sunday, Fayemi said he visited the families of the slain farmers to commiserate with them over the loss of their beloved and douse the brewing ethnic tension in the community.

“Yesterday, two of our farmers from Isaba Ekiti, Mr Toyin Akeju known locally as Jisoro and Mr Yusuf Onuche were found dead on the farms with wounds from gunshots suspected to have been fired by Bororo herdsmen. This, understandably, generated a lot of anger in the community.

“This morning I visited the families of the deceased in the community. In offering commiserations of the government and all our people, I reassured them that we will get to the bottom of this sad occurrence and bring all the criminals involved to book”, the tweet read.
