Expert Harps On Youth Investing In  Skills

BEVERLY HILLS, June 06, (THEWILL) – In a just concluded Business and Entrepreneurship Conference in Lagos, multi-award-winning entrepreneur, author and coach, Melody Fidel Okwuazu, advised Nigerian youths to focus on acquiring and monetising their respective skills.

According to the entrepreneur, skills acquisition and monetisation present a blank cheque for teeming Nigerian youths to scale over poverty and contribute immensely to the GDP of Nigeria.

With over 50 percent of Nigeria’s population in the youth age bracket of less than 45 years old and of course the increasing rate of unemployment in the country remotely contributing to increasing crime, there is no better time for Nigeria youths to embrace different skills acquisition and properly monetise the acquired skills.

Melody itemised different skills, including laundry, car-wash operations, corporate and house-cleaning services; hair-making for the male and female folks; graphic designing, which involves interpreting brand vision through photos and creative words; digital marketing revolving around selling through online and offline channels; public speaking to serve as influencers and a host of other skills.

He explained that, “You don’t get paid for what you know but for what you do with what you know. In other words, you can be the most talented person of the lot, but it means nothing if you cannot skillfully translate your talent to money or something of value. Anyone with a modest talent can work skillfully to maximise the value they can get from it if they follow basic principles of business development.

“The challenge of earning and being financially free is not exclusive to a particular job, skill or talent. No matter what you want to do, as far as it has the capacity to be patronised as a business or service, all you need are focus and creativity to move it forward.”

In this age of the digital world, skills and the right attitude, irrespective of race, colour and academic qualifications, guarantee a comfortable lifestyle and good fortune
